Materials

1 A4 Sheet JS Stardream Card – I used Citrine.
Piece of Stardream Card approx... 6cms x 8cms.
1 A4 Sheets JS Elegance Satin Paper 160gsm.
1 A4 Sheet JS Gentle Gloss Photo Paper.
1 A4 Sheet JS Gold Mirri Card.
Sticky Stuff – I used Double Sided Tape, Foam Pads, Cosmic Shimmer Glue and Glossy Accents.
15cms of narrow red ribbon.
Metal Key from Creative Expressions Assorted Key Charms.
JS Hollypond Hill Double CD Set – I used an image from the Weddings/Engagements/Valentines Section on CD2.
Approx 70cms of white or coloured cotton, to match the cardstock.

Step One

Using JS Gentle Gloss photo paper, print out the heart and bookmark topper sheet on CD 2. The CD is interactive and it explains on the CD how to use the interactive facility and personalise the bookmark, if you wish to add your own greeting.

I typed “You hold the key to my heart”, using a font called Freestyle Script.

Using JS 160gsm Elegance Paper, print out the matching backing paper.

Step Two

Using an A4 sheet of JS Stardream card, measure, mark and score as shown. Do not fold yet.

Step Three

Measure and cut horizontal lines 1cm apart (shown in green).

Crease the outer blue vertical score line.

Do not crease the outer red vertical score line.

Crease the centre of the cut 1cm bars alternating mountain and valley fold. (see next photo)

Ease into shape to create the cage.

Step Four

The illustration shows how the cage is created.

Step Five

Position the card so the bar at the bottom of the card rests on a surface.

Step Six

Using a matching piece of JS Stardream card cut four strips 7cms x 1cm.

Cut a piece of cotton 70cms long fold in half, knot and open out the loose ends.

Step Seven

Wind the open ends of the cotton round the centre of opposite bars, starting at (A) from the top of the bar; and (B) from the bottom of the bar so the cotton is horizontal and not on a slant. Do not pull the cotton too tightly.

Secure to the bar with a small piece of sticky tape.

The cotton should hang down in the centre of the cage.

Check that the cage closes flat (it sandwiches flat between the two side panels). If it does not close, loosen the cotton slightly.

Step Eight

Wind the open ends of the cotton round the centre of opposite bars, starting at (A) from the top of the bar; and (B) from the bottom of the bar so the cotton is horizontal and not on a slant. Do not pull the cotton too tightly.

Secure to the bar with a small piece of sticky tape.

The cotton should hang down in the centre of the cage.

Check that the cage closes flat (it sandwiches flat between the two side panels). If it does not close, loosen the cotton slightly.

Step Nine

Cut out the two medium pink hearts and either trim off the flowers at the side of the heart, or cut two extra roses/ribbon, to attach to the heart at the left-hand side.

Optional cut out the small heart and a rose to embellish the back of the card.

Step Ten

Sandwich the cotton between the two hearts, ensuring that the heart can dangle freely in the middle of the cage. Position how far down the cotton you want the hearts to dangle and stick the two hearts together. Cut off the excess cotton. I used Cosmic Shimmer Glue.

Step Eleven

Cut out the two sections of the bookmark and mount onto a piece of gold mirri card 17cms x 5.5cms. Optional – shape the top of the bookmark.

Cut out two pieces of backing paper 19cms x 5.8cms and mount onto mirri card 6.8cms x 20cms. Fix to the side sections of the card.

Mount the bookmarks onto the side sections using foam pads to add dimension.

Attach a small piece of ribbon to the key and fix to the right-hand section of the bookmark. I used Glossy Accents to attach the key.

Step Twelve

This card will fold down and fit in a C5 envelope.
