Materials

Card

1 x A4 Sheet JS Elegance Satin 300gsm Card.
Off cut of JS Elegance Satin 300gsm Card 12cms x 17cms for mounting topper.
1 x A4 Sheet JS Gentle Gloss Photo Paper.
A5 Off cut of JS Gold Mirri Card.
Sticky stuff – I used Foam Pads, Double Sided Tape, and Pinflair Glue Gel.
Spellbinders Border Die such as Ironwork Accents, or Parisian Accents.
JS Shirley Barber Project Book and CD Rom

Box

1 x A4 Sheet JS Elegance Satin 300gsm Card.
Optional – 1 x A4 Sheet of JS Elegance Satin 160gsm Paper.
Glue - preferably a good wet glue, I used Collall.

Step One

Using JS Gentle Gloss photo paper print out the decoupage sheet from the JS Shirley Barber CD.

Printers print out slightly different sizes. Size the large topper to 12cms x 17cms and cut out the decoupage.

When cutting out intricate pieces of decoupage strengthen the back of the decoupage with sticky tape, before cutting out.

Either make a plain box, or if your printer will print on card, print out the matching backing paper. Otherwise, using JS Elegance Satin 160gsm Paper, print out the backing paper to embellish the box.

Step Two

Mount the topper measuring 12cms x 17cms onto a piece of JS Elegance Satin 300gsm card measuring the same size.

Using JS Gold Mirri card cut two border strips and mount behind the topper and satin card. The border should protrude at each side 0.5cms to create a picot edge down each side edge of the topper.

Step Three

Cut a piece of JS Elegance Satin 300gsm card 25cms x17cms and score in half to create a tent-fold card measuring 12.5cms x 17cms.

Mount the topper on the front of the card and build up the decoupage. If you have white edges on your decoupage layers, you can tint the edges using a fine paintbrush and a suitable ink pad. I used a green Distress Ink Pad.

Step Four

Using an A4 sheet JS Elegance Satin 300gsm card, landscape orientation and wrong side facing (whether it is plain or printed), measure, mark and score as shown. Do not fold the score lines.

Step Five

Wrong side facing, cut away the green triangles at the centre edge of the box, and the wedges “A” shown in green, to create the tabs.

Valley fold the blue lines, and glue the tabs “A” to the points “B” using wet glue. Secure with paper clips until dry.

Step Six

Shown for information only – what the front of the box looks like before assembly, when the triangles and wedges have been removed.

Step Seven

The illustration shows the partially assembled one-piece box. (How to assemble the box is shown at step 5).

Optional - decorate the lid of the box with butterflies cut from the backing paper.

Add a sentiment to the box lid.
