Barbara Mock CD - One Summer's Day
.

Optional
Nestabilities - Fleur De Lis Squares S4-318

Step One

Using the Barbara Mock CD and Foundations Coconut White card, print out two copies of the poppy backing paper.

If your printer does not take card, use JS Elegance Satin 160gsm paper.  You will also need two small off cuts of card to reinforce the flaps.

Using Gentle Gloss photo paper, print out the matching topper sheet and the poppy decoupage sheet.

Step Two

Landscape orientation; cut a piece of Foundations Black card 15cms 29.7cms and score in half vertically.  This will form the outside of the card.

Step Three

To create the card inner, using one of the poppy backing papers, landscape orientation, cut a piece of card/paper 14cms x 28.7cms.  Measure, mark score and cut as shown.

If you have used the 160gsm Elegance Satin Paper you will need to reinforce the two panels “A” on the diagram.  Measure and cut two pieces of card to size

Step Four

The illustration shows the card inner once the central section has been scored, cut and folded.

Step Five

Wrong side facing; apply double sided tape to the left and right-hand sides of the inner card as shown. Do not apply the double sided tape as one long strip.  Stick each half of the inner card to the outer card separately.  It is easier if you peel away the backing paper gradually as shown.

Step Six

The illustration shows the poppy card inner once it has been stuck to the black card outer.  There should be a 0.5cms black border round the edge of the card.

Step Seven

Cut out and separate the two largest toppers to form two squares approximately   8.3cms x 8.3cms.  Mount each topper onto a piece of black card 8.3cms square.  This will add definition to the toppers.

Mount the toppers on a piece of black card 17cms x 8.3cms leaving a 4mm gap in the centre for the score line.  Score in half vertically.

If your toppers do not measure 8.3cms square you will need to adjust the other measurements.

If you are using the Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Squares S4-318 die set cut out two of the largest toppers using black card.  Trim two of the side edges as shown.

If you are not using the dies, cut a piece of black card 10cms x 19cms. Score in half vertically.

Step Eight

Join the two cut edges of the die cuts together using red line tape, as shown.

Step Nine

Attach the mounted toppers to either the die-cuts or the piece of card as shown, ensuring that the score line on the toppers lines up with the join on the die-cuts, or the score line on the piece of black card.

Do a “dry run” to align your toppers to the flaps on the card and check positioning.

The topper should overhang the topper by approximately 1.5cms at the top and bottom and 2.5cms at the sides.  These measurements may vary.

Apply glue (I used Cosmic Shimmer glue as it allowed me a few seconds adjustment) to the wrong side of the flap – shown in pink.  Stick the topper in place.

Step Ten

The illustration shows the underside of the topper and how it is attached to the flap.

Step Eleven

Apply Cosmic Shimmer glue to the remaining flap – shown in pink, and stick the topper into place.  I found it easiest to fold the topper (right sides together) and close the card to check alignment.  I then opened the card (keeping the topper right sides together) applied the glue and closed the card so the flap would stick to the back of the topper.

Step Twelve

Optional - cut out the sentiment on the toppers sheet and stick to a small piece of card to form a “name place card”.  This can be attached to the back or inside the card, to write a message.

Step Thirteen

Cut out the poppy decoupage.  Mount the topper on a piece of black card and a piece of poppy backing sheet and attach to the front of the card.

Build the decoupage.

This card folds down and will fit in an envelope 17cms x 17cms.
