2 A4 Sheets Elegance Satin 300gsm Card.
2 A4 Sheets Gentle Gloss Photo Paper.
1 A4 Sheet Gold Mirri Card.
3/4 metre Peacock Matt Grosgrain 10mm Ribbon and a length of cotton thread.
Sticky Stuff – I used Double Sided Tape, Pinflair Glue Gel and Foam Pads.
Optional – Spellbinders A4 Dainty Dots Embossing Folder.
Spellbinders Majestic Elements Opulent Ovals Die Set.
Using Gentle Gloss photo paper, print out one of the hearts images toppers sheet from the JS One Summer’s Day CD.
Print out two complementary sentiments from the CD. There is an interactive facility on the CD which explains how to add a greeting to personalise a sentiment. It also explains how to import an image into a word processing or graphics programme and re-size it.
Mount each sentiment on a piece of gold mirri card measuring 2.8cms x 11cms.
To create the card outer, using an A4 sheet JS Elegance Satin 300gsm card, landscape orientation, score in half vertically.
As illustrated measure, mark, score and cut the apertures as shown. Please take your measurements from the right-hand side edge.
Do not fold the score line yet.
Neaten the aperture by running an embossing ball tool at an angle round the cut edge.
To create the card inner, using an A4 sheet JS Elegance Satin 300gsm card landscape orientation, score in half vertically. Score to create four panels.
As illustrated measure, mark, score and cut the green lines (to create two tabs) as shown. Please take your measurements from the left-hand side edge.
Do not fold the score lines yet.
Using the centre score line as a guide cut an oval out of the centre of the card inner. I used the largest die in the Spellbinders Majestic Elements Opulent Ovals set.
Do not discard the cut-out.
Using the Spellbinders Dainty Dots embossing folder emboss the Card Outer.
Crease the score line.
Cut away 1mm from the top and bottom of each tab (shown as green dot/dash lines).
This will allow the sentiment tab to move freely when the card is opened.
Using the Spellbinders Dainty Dots embossing folder emboss the Card Inner.
Crease the score lines. Mountain fold the red line, valley fold the blue lines. Do not fold through the tabs.
Cut out the largest oval topper and mount on a piece gold mirri card. The mounted topper should measure less than 13mm long (the space available on the card).
If you are cutting freehand, neaten the edge of the mirri card by running an embossing tool around the perimeter.
Cut out the largest heart wreath and decoupage on top of the oval topper.
Cut out four more heart wreaths to hang in the oval aperture inside the card.
Cut out a cartouche for your greeting from the left over card.
Attach the sentiment tabs to the card inner. The orange lines show where the sentiment is attached to the second panel.
Secure a length of cotton behind the aperture and sandwich between two of the hearts. Sandwich the second two hearts between the cotton. The hearts should be positioned so they can spin freely in the aperture.
Attach a ribbon to the front of the card.
Attach the oval heart topper to the front of the card.
Attach double sided tape to the wrong side of the two end panels of the card inner, shown as A and B.
It is easier to fix panel A to the inside of the card outer first.
The illustration shows the front of the card outer and the positioning of panel A of the card inner on the inside of the card.
