Joanna Sheen Floral Fantasy CD Set. - I chose images from the Botanicals Section on CD 1
Step One
Toppers
Using A4 cardstock capture and copy (explained how on the CD) five of the middle sized toppers and paste them into your word processing programme. You should be able to fit four images on one page. Print these plus two extra of the large toppers for the outside of the card, and additional bookmarks if required.
Inserts
Using five sheets of the A4 cardstock print the inserts to match the toppers, using edge-to-edge printing if available. If your printer does not have the edge-to-edge facility, print your backing sheet as big as possible and trim off the excess (your card will be slightly smaller and the outer card of each section will also need trimming).
Bookmarks
Using gentle gloss photo paper capture and copy two bookmarks (total 10 bookmarks) to match each of the five toppers.
Cover
Using gentle gloss photo paper print one sheet of backing paper to cover the front and back cover of the card.
Step Two
Landscape orientation; fold the insert in half with the printed side to the outside. (Fig a).
Fold the front in half again towards the spine. (Fig b).
Repeat with the back. (Fig c).
Step Three
Right side inside - fold in half, and centred on the spine edge, mark out the cut-out section. Calculate the size for the cut-out as follows:-
The botanicals topper measure approximately 10cms x 7.5cms - deduct 1cm from the length and 1.5cm from the width = 9cms x 6cms.
As the card is folded in half, the cut-out section will measure 9cms x 3cms. (Shown in red).
Extend the cut line by 0.5cm (5mm) top and bottom (shown in green) to locate the topper. (See Fig).
Step Four
Wrong side facing fix double sided tape round the edges of the two outer sections. Do not remove the backing. (See Fig).
Step Five
Glue a narrow mat round the edge of the matching bookmarks and fix to the outer sections of the inserts. I use Collall photo glue which allows me to adjust the images. Fold the topper in half lengthways and working from the back of the insert, locate the topper in the notches in the aperture. (See Fig).
Step Seven
Peel back the corners of the double sided tape on one section of the back of the insert ( See red lines on Fig in step 4) and butt the front edge the insert up to the front inside edge of the card outer. Match the edges and remove the remainder of the double sided tape. (See Fig. a). Repeat with the other four inserts. You should now have five cards.
Place double sided tape around the edges of the back of the card. Peel back the corners of the double sided tape and butt the card to the front of the next card. Match the edges of the two sections together and remove the remainder of the double sided tape. (See Fig. b).
Repeat until all five cards are joined together. Do not close the star. (See Fig. c).
Top view shown. (Fig. d).
Step Eight
Cover the front and back of the card with backing paper and add large toppers and/or bookmark-tassel. Make a hole at the centre front and back edges of the card and insert ribbon to tie.
