Materials
1 A4 sheet JS Stardream Card, plus small piece of card for tabs and retaining strip - I used Citrine
1 A4 sheet JS Gold Mirri Card
1 A4 sheet JS Black Mirri Card
2 A4 sheets JS Gentle Gloss Photo Paper
Sticky Stuff (I used Double Sided Tape and Large Foam Pads)
JS Thomas Kinkade Papercraft CD set
Using Gentle Gloss photo paper, print out one of the large landscape orientation toppers (approx 20cms x 13.2cms). Exact sizing may vary according to your printer, and if you have imported the image into another programme; but to fit on the card, your image should be no larger than 20cms - I chose the Venice Canal scene from CD2, and a matching sentiment. How to capture an image and import into a word processing programme is explained on the CD. The sentiments are interactive and how to use a font of your choice is also explained on the CD.
Step One
Using a sheet of A4 Stardream card, landscape orientation, measure, mark and score the sections as shown here. Mountain fold the score lines.
Step Two
Cut a strip of backing paper 1.8cms x 20.8cms and centre and fix on the 2cms wide section of the card. (See picture).
Cut a strip of backing paper 3.7cms x 20.8cms and centre and fix on the 4cms wide section of the card.
Using the extra piece of Stardream card cut a retaining strip 19cms x 1.5cms. Fix four large foam pads to the underside of the strip (See picture).
To create the tabs, cut three pieces of card 3cms x 4.5cms and score horizontally approximately 1.5cms from the bottom. Fix double sided tape to the tab below the score line, then above the score line, cut to a point. (See picture).
Fix two of the tabs to the underside of the 2cms section of the card, making sure they clear the foam pad on the retaining strip.
Step Three
To create the front up stand, fix the retaining strip to the 9.5cms section of the card so the two tabs can slide underneath the retaining strip and the up stand is angled. (See picture).
Step Four
This picture shows the angle of the up stand and how the tabs locate under the retaining strip.
Step Five
Cut a piece of Gold Mirri card 21cms wide and sufficiently long enough to fit your topper. I matted and layered Gold Mirri card 21cms x 14.5cms for my base layer, Black Mirri card 20.5cms x 14cms and then mounted the topper. (See picture).
Step Six
Fix double sided tape to the front of the 7.7cms section of the card and attach the bottom half of the topper so it fits flush and covers the section. (See picture)
